Basic Cloud Concepts:

  1. What is cloud computing?
    • Answer: Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services—such as servers, storage, databases, networking, software, and more—over the internet (the cloud). It allows for on-demand access to these resources, typically on a pay-as-you-go basis.
  2. What are the main types of cloud services?
    • Answer: The main types of cloud services are:
      • IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service): Provides virtualized computing resources over the internet (e.g., AWS EC2, Azure VMs).
      • PaaS (Platform as a Service): Offers hardware and software tools over the internet, typically for application development (e.g., Google App Engine, Azure App Service).
      • SaaS (Software as a Service): Delivers software applications over the internet (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
  3. What are the differences between public, private, and hybrid clouds?
    • Answer:
      • Public Cloud: Services are provided over the internet and shared with other organizations (e.g., AWS, Azure).
      • Private Cloud: Services are maintained on a private network and are dedicated to a single organization.
      • Hybrid Cloud: Combines both public and private clouds, allowing data and applications to be shared between them.

Basic Automation Concepts:

  1. What is automation in the context of cloud computing?
    • Answer: Automation refers to the use of scripts and tools to manage cloud infrastructure and applications without manual intervention. This can include tasks like provisioning resources, scaling applications, and deploying updates.
  2. What is Infrastructure as Code (IaC)?
    • Answer: IaC is a method to manage and provision computing infrastructure through machine-readable scripts or configuration files rather than manual processes. Tools like Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation are commonly used for IaC.
  3. Can you name some popular automation tools and describe their use?
    • Answer:
      • Terraform: Used for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure using code.
      • Ansible: An automation tool used for configuration management and application deployment.
      • CloudFormation: AWS-specific IaC tool used to define and provision AWS infrastructure using templates.
